Use: Voacanga africana seeds and root bark are valued for their rich alkaloid content, including tabersonine, voacamine and voacangine. Tabersonine, the main alkaloid in the seeds, is a key precursor in the pharmaceutical industry for the semi-synthesis of vincamine and vinpocetine. Long used in traditional West African medicine, Voacanga is now an important raw material for the global pharmaceutical and nutraceutical industries.
